ACCTS Newsletter October 2022

“Give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Dear family, friends, and partners,

The Thanksgiving season is upon us, and in keeping in line with Scripture, we give thanks in everything, including God’s rich blessings and opportunities to learn and grow. We give thanks for you, our valued partners, and for the work that God is doing. We couldn’t do it without your support and the Lord sustaining us along the way. In this month’s newsletter, you can read about the impact of AWT’s private support group and this year’s Authentic Leadership conference.

Sincerely,

Nabeeh and Ruba Abbassi

Authentic Leadership Conference

This month, we held our 16th annual leadership conference for Christian women leaders from across the Arab world. This training is designed to guide Christian women leaders in their journey, leading them back to their true north through practical biblical knowledge and functional tools that help them assess their life stories and crucibles. These tools are fundamental in assisting women in developing their self-awareness, determining their values and principles, recognizing their motivations, forming their support team, and learning how to achieve a well-balanced life.

This year, thirty-four women residing in nine different countries attended the Authentic Leadership conference here in Jordan. Volunteers from one of our partner churches in the US and elsewhere in Jordan came to help us. They served us by presenting the morning devotion, engaging with the women in group discussions, and encouraging the women they met. One of the major takeaways was the necessity for leadership training for women in the Arab world and how AWT is providing these women with much-needed training. The feedback below shows the impact of the conference on providing practical applications and influencing women’s perspectives on leadership.

“You managed to offer a comprehensive training. The trainers were able to deliver not only knowledge, but also steps to practical application. And it was all taught through the perspective of the Bible.”

“You influenced my attitude and thinking toward leadership. This training taught me the concept of servant-leadership. The servant-leader is, first and foremost, a servant. It all starts with the innate desire to serve first. Then, by an intentional choice, one aspires to lead.”

Private Support Group

Imagine the blessing of knowing that you are not alone in the struggle you face from a difficult past experience. What benefit would you gain from finding common ground with women who have struggled to forgive and recover a healthier self-image? Twenty-one women from five different countries have experienced this through AWT’s online private support groups led by one of our trainers. The online private support group aims to help women set their eyes on God. By first learning from Bible stories and biblical teaching, women will learn how to apply the Bible by reading and reflecting on it as they share their experiences and pray together.

“I feel that I am not alone. Being with a group of women who know how I feel and can relate to what I have been through is encouraging. I feel like I have been liberated and am born again in Christ. So many issues have been hindering my growth in Christ, but through this group, I now know these issues.”

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Have you wondered how you can partner with ACCTS? Soon, friends, families, and church groups will begin planning Christmas and holiday gatherings. One way to partner with us would be to take a few minutes of your holiday gathering to share about ACCTS and our ministry. The good news is, you don’t have to do it all on your own. To help you, we can provide you with needed information or set up a short zoom call for an ACCTS team member to take a few minutes to answer questions or share a brief impact story. If you are interested in this, please email us at rdd.accts@gmail.com to start the conversation.
